Overview
Blood Lagbe connects blood donors with the people who need them, without the hassle that usually sits between the two. A patient's family fills in one short form; the request is posted to social media automatically, nearby donors are found on a map, and appointments and donation history are tracked in one place.
The name is Bengali for "need blood": the words people already say when they ask for it, which makes it easy to recall at the moment it matters.
Objectives
- Make the connection between a donor and a recipient quick and easy.
- Build a community-driven platform for life-saving donations.
The problem
Blood shortages delay life-saving treatment. Many patients cannot find a matching donor in time, and the systems that exist rely on manual posting and phone chains that break under pressure. Requests get lost in feeds, donors cannot tell which requests are near them, and hospitals have no quick way to confirm that a donor is eligible.
The solution
An online platform that connects donors and recipients in real time. People request blood, find suitable donors nearby, and the platform keeps request posts updated across social channels so a request is seen by as many people as possible, as fast as possible.
The workflow links three parties:
- Recipients request blood with a single form.
- Donors keep their availability up to date.
- Hospitals verify donor eligibility before a donation.
What it does
- Request form. A simple application form to request blood.
- Automatic social posts. Every submitted request is posted to connected social channels automatically and managed from one place.
- Passwordless sign-in. Email or phone verification with a one-time password. Nothing to remember, nothing to reset.
- Profiles and accounts. Donors and recipients manage their own details through a simple account area.
- GPS and maps. Nearby donors, donation centres and hospitals, located on a map.
- Area-based donor filtering. Donors filtered by location so the first people contacted are the ones who can actually get there.
- Donor sign-up. A short form that asks only for what a match needs.
- Admin dashboard. A role-based dashboard to manage donors and requests and track donations.
Tech stack
| Layer | Tools |
|---|---|
| Frontend | HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, jQuery |
| Backend | PHP, MySQL |
| Integrations | Facebook Graph API, Telegram API |
| Hosting | cPanel shared production server, XAMPP for local development |
What sets it apart
- Requests travel on their own. Posting to social media happens on submit, so a family in an emergency does one thing instead of five.
- No passwords. A one-time code is the only barrier between a donor and a request.
- Location first. Filtering by area means faster matches when minutes matter.
- A name that sticks. Blood Lagbe is built to be unforgettable, so people recall it the moment they need blood.
